Collaboration started with the Centro Nazionale Carabinieri Biodiversità for the restoration of the moors
The Life Granatha project has set up a collaboration with the Centro Nazionale Carabinieri Biodiversità, a structure managed by the Reparto Carabinieri Forestali di Pieve Santo Stefano and endowed with considerable experience in the treatment and distribution of wild plant seeds. The objective of the collaboration is to define and test a method of sowing heathers in the field, to be used for the restoration of the moors. In fact, some of the areas of intervention have reached such a level of evolution of invasive vegetation that, by cutting and burning alone, the restoration of the moors is not allowed. Activities will start with tests in sample areas; if the results are positive, the sowing will involve larger surfaces, recreating new habitats for the target species.
